"Dog training isn't just black and white."
Book a ConsultationMost trainers see the world in black and white: all corrections, or all rewards. Greyscale K9 operates in the space between, using every tool available to build a dog that is calm, confident, and genuinely obedient.
With over a decade of experience and more than 800 dogs trained across six states, we've seen every behavior problem imaginable, and solved them. No gimmicks. No cookie-cutter programs. Just real results.
From NFL athletes to first-time dog owners with young kids, our clients come from every walk of life. What they all have in common is a well trained dog that actually listens.
We use positive reinforcement and fair corrections together, because that's how dogs actually learn.
Every dog is different. We design programs around your dog's personality, drives, and your lifestyle.
We train you as much as we train your dog. Real results require understanding, not just commands.
You'll feel like you're just holding a leash. No pulling, no chaos, no embarrassment. Just a dog that walks beside you like it was born to.
All DogsWe come to you, making it as easy as possible for the owner while getting to the root cause where the dog is most comfortable. Dogs behave differently at home than anywhere else. That's exactly where we need to see them.
Your TurfThe gold standard. A dog you can trust completely. At the park, in public, with distractions. This is what real training looks like.
AdvancedStart right. Early structure prevents 90% of future problems. We build socialization, impulse control, and basic obedience from day one.
5 LessonsAggression, anxiety, reactivity, destructive behavior. We get to the root cause and fix it with structured, proven methods.
Complex CasesHave a specific goal or unique situation? We build programs from scratch around your dog's exact needs and your lifestyle, whatever that looks like.
TailoredTraining doesn't end when our sessions do. If you're putting in the work and something comes up six months down the road (a new behavior, a setback, something you can't figure out), reach out. We'll come back out and work through it with you at no charge, for as long as it takes to figure it out.
The only condition: you have to be working what we taught you. We're not here to do the work for you. We're here to make sure it sticks for life.
And we don't put a time limit on lessons either. Once we start working on something, we don't leave until we finish in a good spot. No watching the clock, no cutting sessions short. Every lesson ends with real progress.
We come to you. Depending on the situation we'll travel to your home, meet you at a quiet park or parking lot, whatever works best. No dog goes unturned as long as we can service it. We're not trying to be just another trainer in Detroit. We're trying to be the best in the region.
Reach out anyway. Depending on the situation we'll figure out a way to make it work. Your place, a neutral spot, wherever gets the best result for your dog.
Get In TouchBalanced training isn't guesswork. It's built on behavioral science. B.F. Skinner's operant conditioning model defines the four ways behavior is shaped. Most trainers only use one or two. We use all four, applied fairly and correctly.
Dog sits → gets a treat. The good thing added makes the behavior happen more. The foundation of reward-based training.
Leash pressure releases when dog moves into heel. Removing the discomfort reinforces the correct position. Often misunderstood: this is not punishment.
Dog jumps → firm "no" followed with correction. When applied correctly and fairly, it's the fastest way to stop an unwanted behavior without confusion.
Dog jumps → attention and play stop immediately. Taking away what the dog wants teaches it that bad behavior makes good things disappear.
Most "positive only" trainers refuse to use P+ or R-. Most old-school trainers overuse P+. Greyscale K9 uses all four quadrants: the right tool, at the right moment, with the right dog. That's why our results are different.
